We are seeking nominations for volunteer members of the Board of Directors.
ABC Ontario is currently seeking community-driven leaders to join our team as volunteer members of the Board of Directors. New board members would join the six board members elected in 2025 who will be continuing to serve. We expect to add at least three new members to the board.
The Association for Bright Children of Ontario is an all-volunteer, provincially incorporated registered charity, with chapters across Ontario. It is dedicated to providing information, advocacy and support to parents of bright and gifted students. It provides parent perspective to local school boards, educators, professional groups and the Ontario Ministry of Education.
As a key member of our leadership team, each Director will be responsible for guiding the strategic direction of ABC Ontario, fostering meaningful partnerships, and ensuring the effective delivery of our programs and services across the province. The directors work together to provide organizational leadership, stakeholder engagement, and a strong commitment to advancing ABC Ontario’s mission and values.
The ideal candidates will bring some or all of these skills:
- Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills
- Knowledge of gifted programming and identification in at least one Ontario school board
- A collaborative and inclusive approach to team management and decision-making
- Passion for gifted education
- Leadership experience in the non-profit, or community-based sectors
- We welcome those with skills in information technology, legal and finance to apply

Expectations of Board Members:
- Be a community ambassador for ABC Ontario
- Develop a good working knowledge of ABC Ontario programs and services
- Contribute expertise to the programs and services offered by ABC Ontario
- Attend monthly board meetings and participate in the Annual General Meeting
- Comply with the ABC Ontario Code of Conduct and Board Policies and Procedures
