ADD - Attention Deficit Disorder

AP - Advanced Placement program

CAP - Centrally Assigned Principal - Oversees the delivery of Special Education Services

CAS - Das-Naglieri Cognitive Assessment System (ages 5-17 yrs) Intelligence Test

CCAT - Canadian Cognitive Abilities Test (K-12)

COG - Consortium for Ontario Gifted (group of educators, parents and psychologists concerned about gifted learners led by ABC Ontario which meets with Special Education Branch of Ministry of Education three times per year)

CoRT - Cognitive Research Trust Thinking Course (de Bono)

CPS -Classroom Performance System

CTCS - Canadian Test of Cognitive Skills (Gr. 2-12)

CTY - Center for Talented Youth at John Hopkins University

DI - Differentiated Instruction

DOE - Director of Education (at a school board)

DRA -Developmental Reading Assessment (K-6)

DTLA-4 - Detroit Test of Learning Aptitude (ages 6-17 yrs.) Intelligence Test

EA - Educational Assistant

EDU - Ministry of Education

ELC - Enhanced Learning Class

ELD - English Literacy Development

ELL - English Language Learner

ELRT - Enrichment Learning Resource Teacher (see also SERT, LRT etc)

EO - Education Officer at the Ministry of Education

EPGY - Education Program for Gifted Youth at Stanford University

EQAO - Education Quality and Accountability Office (responsible for Gr. 3 & 6 standardized, Gr. 9 math proficiency and Gr. 10 literacy tests)

ESL - English as a Second Language

FOA - Freedom of Information Act

FTE - Full-time Equivalent, such as when two part-time teachers fill the role of one full-time teacher.

MOTS - More of the Same; an expression for addressing gifted learning needs by simply assigning more routine school work rather than using different teaching strategies (compare to HOTS)
